So it’s true, yesterday I was in my pjs so late in the day that after I finally showered, I wasn’t sure if I should just get back into my jammies or get dressed (I decided to get dressed).
This morning I woke up to the beautiful sight of big fluffy snowflakes falling on a fresh layer of snow. I made of point of getting dressed right away with the intent of having a very productive day. So far so good – I’ve accomplished a lot already, but I must confess, I only made it into sweatpants (not even sexy yoga pants) and a turtleneck.
It feels good to work from home where I can sip tea while I toil away at a variety of projects, bake a couple of loaves of European Cinnamon, Honey & Raisin Bread, and throw a load of laundry in the wash. It’s a much welcomed relaxing day.
MY FAVORITE TEA…
Knock-on-wood, Ric and I have dodged the colds and flu going around, but so many have not. Here is my favorite tea to drink to help combat the cooties and help you feel better if they’ve already latched on to you.
It’s loaded with anti-inflammatory ingredients that help promote healing and it tastes delicious and soothing. I recommend using all organic ingredients for the tea, if possible.
- 2-3 slices of apple (use a sweet apple, not a tart variety)
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 slices of fresh ginger root
- 2 inches of cinnamon stick
- 6-8 black peppercorns
- Optional: 1-2 teaspoons honey
- Place all of the ingredients in a large mug.
- Pour enough boiling water over it to fill the cup.
- Let it steep for 5 minutes.
- Stir and enjoy.
If you are worried about swallowing or biting down on a peppercorn, strain them out before drinking.
Enjoy and be well!

I like the sound of your “wellness tea”, and will bookmark it for winter. We are sweltering here – after a quite mild December and January, the first few days of February already hold the promise of a series of uncomfortable hot days were the humidity can be ‘cut with a knife’. Just looking at your snow covered vista makes me feel better.
Those perfect days with a happy medium between sweltering and freezing seem to be hard to come by these days! Hot tea probably isn’t on the list of things to drink right now for you. I’ll have to come up with an iced version. I hope you get some relief soon!
We are having some cold days here, even some frost on the roofs in the morning. I’m adding ingredients to next shopping trip. Yummy!
I hope you enjoy the tea. Stay warm!
